In game development, many problems cannot be verified by writing code alone. Engine behavior, platform APIs, and the runtime environment all have their own rules. Codex cannot operate those environments for me or know whether a mechanic actually works without evidence.

## I validate the critical path first

My approach is to understand the requirement, implement the critical part myself, and make it run. Once the mechanic and the technical path are proven, I explain the implementation, flow, and constraints to Codex so it can expand the validated idea into complete code.

This is not a competition with AI. It is a reliable foundation. Without real-world validation, even a complete-looking implementation may only be plausible.

## From filling details to shared design

Earlier, I usually built the rough structure myself and asked Codex to fill in the details. Older models were better at local implementation and more likely to fail on engine-specific rules during complex work.

Now I ask Codex for a plan for a complete feature, review it against the engine's constraints, and then let it implement the feature. As the models improve, the collaboration shifts from asking AI to write code to asking it to participate in design and implementation.

## Takeaway

Whether an AI can run a particular engine is not the only measure of collaboration efficiency. The important part is whether a human can validate what the agent cannot and clearly explain the context, constraints, and success criteria.

I validate the real-world path and make the final call. Codex expands a proven method into a complete implementation.
